Please help us encourage everyone to register for our upcoming Regional Meetings as soon as possible. We are working hard to make sure these events are beneficial to our members, but could really use your help in making sure everyone knows about these meetings and fills out the online registration form so we can get an accurate head count. This is also an excellent event for office staff participation as well. Remember, there will be 10-12 hours of COCPT credit available for anyone in your office who may need it!

My heart is deeply saddened to inform everyone that Weakley County has lost one of its greatest leaders, Mr. Houston Patrick. Today we all mourn the loss of a great leader, mentor, devoted public servant, wonderful husband and father, and special friend. Houston's reputation preceded him. He was the Weakley County Register of Deeds for 24 years. In that time he was active in the association serving many roles. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 23, 2019, 11:00 A.M at First Baptist Church in Martin with the address of 123 University Street, Martin Tn 38237. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 at First Baptist Church. For further information see murphyfuneralhome.net

Legal Issues for Registers of Deeds - Kristy Brown
This class will discuss legal issues that pertain to
the office of the Register of Deeds, including
recording requirements, indexing, electronic
recording and recently passed laws on the
redaction of personal information and recording
of fraudulent liens. This class will also discuss financial issues relating to fees, purchasing and budgeting.
The Legal Issues series will be offered one time this year. Seats are limited. Each attendee is responsible for their own hotel rooms if needed.

Hello Register Family. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and is ready for a great year. Congratulations to Nick McBride, Knox County Register, for being appointed C.O.A.T. Legislative Chair. I also wanted to thank all of the Registers who have had their county commission pass the Resolution which urges the General Assembly to support the restoration of Registers' Commission. To those Registers who have the Resolution on the County Commission January agenda, once the resolution is adopted, please do the following: 1. Ask the County Clerk for a copy of the Resolution and mail a copy to your State Represenatives & State Senator. 2. Ask the County Clerk for a certified copy and mail it to Rodney Archer, Executive Director, County Officials Association of Tennessee 226 Capitol Blvd., Suite 200 Nashvile, TN 37219.
